Relationships with your friends and family, or boyfriends or girlfriends are very important, and can really affect the way you feel. Year 7 is a year of changes.

 

You’re starting at a new school, and trying to form new friendships – at the same time as learning a lot of new subjects. In this section you’ll find help and advice about some of the relationship issues you may have to deal with, including:

When you start at secondary school, you may be worried that you’re leaving some of your old friends behind.

Everyone under 16 has to receive education, which normally means going to school. For children and young people in care, it’s important that your social worker talks about your education with you and your parents.

By the time you start secondary school, you may also be starting to go through puberty.

When you start secondary school, you might think your parents or carers still treat you like you’re much younger, and are being really over-protective.
