Connexions - Routes Year 9
Education

Education

It’s an important time. This school year you’ll choose what subjects you’re going to study for the next two years. To make the right decisions you’ll need to know what options you face.

Your local Connexions centre, schools and colleges all can give you the information you need to take the next steps. Don’t forget, teachers and tutors, youth workers and Connexions Personal Advisers can also provide lots of support and advice.

Now you’re in Year 9, you’ll be starting to think about which subjects you would like to carry on with, and hopefully take for GCSE.

Every school has to have a set of rules to follow for suspensions and expulsions. You or your parents / carers can ask to see these. The rules will probably include something like the following.

GCSEs aren’t compulsory, but if you have some GCSEs they will increase your chance of getting a job.

As you no doubt already know, you can find a huge range of information online to help with your studies and your homework.

Every year people from richer countries have been eating better, feeling healthier and living longer.

No one deserves to be bullied but unfortunately most people face it at some time or other. If you are being bullied it can be hard to tell someone, but it won’t stop until you do.

School is one of the few places where people from various religious backgrounds can mix together every day.

Everyone under 16 has to receive education, which normally means going to school.
