It may seem ages away, but the world of work and getting a career are closer than you think. The choices you begin to make now about what subjects you study will determine what kind of career you can choose. So it’s important to think about what you would like to end up doing when you choose your options.
You can also begin to start working part-time when you’re 13 or 14 to earn some money:
• On school days you can only work up to two hours a day, one hour before school and one hour after school.
• On Saturdays, you can work up to five hours and two hours on a Sunday.
• In the school holidays you can work up to five hours a day but no more than 25 hours in a week.
• For two weeks in the school holiday, you can’t work at all.
