Steps for Year 9 is a workbook containing a range of different activities for students to complete, ideally with the support of tutors or teachers. It can be used as part of the careers education/PSHE programme, either in its entirety or as a bank of activities.

These co-ordinator/tutor notes show how the activities can help meet the learning outcomes of the National Framework for Careers Education and Guidance published by DfES, as well as identifying links with other personal development resources and areas of the curriculum.

Many of the activities in Step One concentrate on self-development and career exploration. They focus on the thinking and preparatory work that needs to be undertaken before students make choices in relation to their learning pathways at KS4.

The workbook requires students to look at various aspects of their personal development. Inevitably students will vary in the stage of their development and you will need to offer support and advice to individual students.
